Former Pirates' Skinner, 94, Dies After Baseball Career

Former Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder and World Series champion Bob Skinner has died at age 94 in San Diego, the team announced.

Skinner, a two-time All-Star, played 12 MLB seasons with the Pirates, Cardinals and Reds. He was part of the Pirates' 1960 World Series championship team, scoring a key run in Game 7 of their upset victory over the Yankees. Skinner also won a World Series with the 1964 Cardinals.

After his playing career, Skinner managed the Padres and Phillies before becoming a hitting coach for the Pirates. He was part of the coaching staff when Pittsburgh won the 1979 World Series. Pirates owner Bob Nutting praised Skinner as 'an important part of one of the most beloved teams in our storied history.' cricket-ipl.in
