Gibson Called Up to Start vs. Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles will activate top prospect Trey Gibson to start against the New York Yankees on Sunday, according to manager Craig Albernaz.

Gibson, 23, will replace several injured Orioles pitchers including Trevor Rogers, Dean Kremer, and Zach Eflin. The 6-foot-5 right-hander was called up from Triple-A Norfolk where he had a 4.01 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings this season.

Ranked as Baltimore's No. 3 prospect by MLB.com and Baseball America, Gibson signed with the Orioles as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He'll face Max Fried of the Yankees as the Orioles look to improve from their current 15-17 record, six games out of first place in the AL East. michezonews.co.za
