Real Madrid, Newcastle in European action

Real Madrid, Newcastle in European action

European football continues with Champions League clashes between Lille and Betis, and Dortmund versus Villarreal. In the Carabao Cup, Palace take on Middlesbrough while Sunderland face Hull.

The modern Champions League format has roots in 1987 when Maradona's Napoli was eliminated early from the European Cup by Real Madrid. AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi's dissatisfaction led to the creation of the expanded Champions League five years later.

Brandon Graham, 2-Time Eagles Super Bowl Champion, Reportedly Retires Again

For the second time in two years, long-time Philadelphia Eagles pass rusher Brandon Graham is hanging up his cleats. Graham took center stage at a Jefferson Health event in Philadelphia to announce his retirement in person. This is the second time he has stepped away, having previously un-retired to rejoin the team last October. At 38 years old, Graham leaves behind a respectable NFL résumé after entering the league in 2010 as the No. 13 overall pick out of Michigan. During his 16 seasons in the league, Graham earned two Super Bowl rings, a Pro Bowl nod and a Second-Team All-Pro selection. The defining moment of Graham’s career came against the New England Patriots in the high-scoring shootout of Super Bowl LII, when he strip-sacked quarterback Tom Brady late in the fourth quarter. The forced fumble set up a late field goal for Jake Elliott to extend the Eagles lead to eight points, effectively sealing the 41-33 victory. While his career had a quiet start, Graham grew into one of the most durable and impactful pass rushers in Eagles history. Graham spent all 16 of his NFL seasons in Philadelphia, setting a franchise record with 215 games played. Over his career, Graham was able to produce 493 tackles, 79.5 sacks, 23 forced fumbles with 83.5 stuffs and tackles for loss. With Graham now retired, the Eagles’ new-look pass rush takes over. General manager Howie Roseman traded for former Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl edge rusher Jonathan Greenard this offseason to replace Brandon Graham’s production. Alongside Greenard’s arrival, expectations remain high for former 2023 first-round pick Nolan Smith. chickenroadslot.lat

Solheim Cup vice-captain denies Charley Hull’s late arrival due to ‘drinks’

Charley Hull has, unsurprisingly, been involved in a colourful start to Solheim Cup week. After arriving late for her Tuesday practice tee time in the Netherlands, an online clip of her joking about the reason prompted a cascade of online speculation and ended with members of the European team hierarchy forcibly denying any overindulgence on the teetotal Hull’s behalf on Monday night.

In an unusual scene, Hull, who is crucial to Europe’s quest to reclaim the Solheim Cup from the United States this week, drove off alone at Bernardus Golf and caught up with her teammates after arriving on the 1st tee minutes behind them. In a clip that gained traction, Hull appeared to jokingly blame “drinks” from the night before. The English golfer did, however, seem to point towards her caddie at the time.

Will influencers bring down US Open? | You can mail Katy

First set: Sabalenka* 3-1 Noskova (*denotes next server)

At 30-all, Sabalenka is applying more pressure on Noskova’s serve, but Sabalenka smacks a backhand return into the net and Noskova can breathe a little at 40-30. And the Wimbledon champion gets her side of the scoreboard moving when Sabalenka again errs with her return. The Arthur Ashe crowd – perhaps only about a half full so far – cheer loudly. They’re not against Sabelenka – as they were in the previous round when she played the American Taylor Townsend – but of course they want a close match.
