Tour de France Stage 3 Without Fans Amid Wildfires

The third stage of the Tour de France 2026 will take place without spectators amid wildfire concerns. The 195.5km route features a category-one climb, the Col de Toses (9.3km at 6.5%), and will test riders with the Col du Calvaire near Font-Romeu and a final 1.5km climb at a seven percent gradient. afrikasportnews.co.za

According to ex-racer and Tour technical director Thierry Gouvenou, the stage presents a perfect opportunity for attackers. 'It's a long stage with a gradual climb for most of the way,' Gouvenou stated. 'The finale will separate the riders, especially on the Col du Calvaire and the final climb. So, this is a huge opportunity for attackers to seek out a stage win and why not even the yellow.'

Tour de France Stage 3 Without Fans

Stage three from Granollers to Les Angles (195.9km) started at 11:10am BST/12:10pm CET without fans present due to ongoing wildfire concerns. At 180km to go, a significant crash occurred when a rider attempted to squeeze past Bruno Armirail (Visma-Lease a Bike) on the inside, causing him and three Netcompany Ineos riders to go down heavily.

Armirail appears to have injured his knee, potentially affecting support for Jonas Vingegaard. Meanwhile, Matthew Riccitello (Decathlon CMA CGM Team) also returned to the doctor's car following the incident. The race continues despite the challenging conditions.

Aaron Rodgers: Mike McCarthy's offense is all about the quarterback’s timing

Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy are in their first year together in Pittsburgh, but after 13 years together in Green Bay, they know each other as well as any quarterback and head coach in the NFL.

Rodgers says he knows exactly what he needs to do in the McCarthy system, and it's all about him having his timing down with his teammates.

“It’s just the next generations of the West Coast offense,” Rodgers said, via TribLive.com. “It went kind of Bill Walsh to kind of what Mike was doing with Paul Hackett, and then it’s kind of grown from there. From a real fundamental level, it’s all about the quarterback’s timing.”

Rodgers said McCarthy has changed some of the terminology in his offense since the two were last together on the 2018 Packers, but the system is fundamentally the same.

“I spent 13 years in [McCarthy’s offense],” Rodgers said. “He’s changed some stuff when he was in Dallas. . . . It’s stuff that we used to run, but he’s just called it something different now.”

In three months, McCarthy will hope to see Rodgers running that offense the same way he did in Green Bay.
