Fortsatt visumtrøbbel for Irans VM-lag: – Diskriminerende
Iran anklager USA for urettferdig behandling etter at en stor del av landets VM-delegasjon ble nektet visum.
Fredag ble det kjent at spillerne i Iran-troppen har fått innvilget innreise av amerikanske myndigheter, men alt er ikke på stell ni dager før VM-åpningen mot New Zealand i California.
– Hvorfor sier dere ikke at visum ble nektet for en stor del av den administrative staben, tekniske rådgivere og andre som er en integrert del av ethvert landslag? skriver Irans ambassade i Tyrkia på X.
Uttalelsen var et svar på en tidligere melding fra USAs spesialutsending Tom Barrack om at spillerne hadde fått visum.
– Dere har nå tatt den bevisste og diskriminerende behandlingen av Irans fotballandslag til et nytt og høyere nivå, la ambassaden til.
Fredag roste Barrack den amerikanske ambassaden i Ankara for arbeidet med å behandle visumsøknadene til Irans VM-lag.
Ifølge iranske medier er Irans fotballpresident Mehdi Taj blant 15 medlemmer av VM-delegasjonen som ikke har fått visum.
Usikkerheten rundt Iran og VM har vart siden USA og Israel angrep Iran militært 28. februar. En midlertidig våpenhvile ble inngått i april.
Irans spillere har vært på treningsleir i tyrkiske Antalya siden 18. mai. Selv om de skal spille alle sine tre gruppekamper i USA, kommer laget til å ha VM-basen i Mexico.

Jeff Hafley: The tush push is hard to stop, and Dolphins can get good at it
New Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley wants his team to be good at the tush push, on both sides of the ball.
Asked about the tush push at Organized Team Activities, Hafley said he wants his defense to figure out how to stop it, and he wants quarterback Malik Willis and the Dolphins' offensive line to figure out how to run it effectively.
"It's hard to stop, so get good at it and do it," Hafley said. "I mean it's really hard to stop. So as long as it's a legal play, we need to figure out on defense a way to stop it. And with a quarterback like we have with Malik, and some big guys up front, maybe we can get good at it."
Last offseason, all the talk in the NFL was about whether to stop the tush push by changing the rules. But when that proposal failed, it became clear that the play is here to stay, and smart teams need to be ready for it.
